Simon Arrol has worked on marina projects in 38 countries. He graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester and was later awarded a Fellowship of the Institution of Civil Engineers of Great Britain.
Arrol spent 14 years in the dredging and maritime civil engineering industry, much of the time with Royal Bos Kalis Westminster, the world's largest dredging company. This was followed by 16 years as the Managing Director of the marina division of Camper & Nicholsons, where he expanded its activities internationally. In 2005, he launched Island Global Yachting in Dubai and was responsible for the design and development of a number of marinas in the region. Since 2008, Arrol has been in private practice.
Arrol is also the author of The Marina Manual, the only A-Z guide of how to administer and operate a marina safely and profitably to best-practice international standards.
