Completed formal engineering apprenticeship and management training in the motor industry (British Motor Corporation) to become specialist in overseas business development as a fully qualified engineer with a degree in management. A full and active career in senior management with over 30 years in the Leisure Marine Industry as MD and Executive Chairman of the most successful company in its sector operating on a worldwide basis (Performance Sailcraft - The Laser) Between 2002 and 2006 elected to the Board of the British Marine Federation (BMF). Vice President 2006 to 2009. Worked for 12 years as an independent management consultant effecting changes to management structures, strategies and culture that usually included recruitment of new senior management. Qualified commercial dispute mediator specialised in speed mediation From 2005 to 2011 retained adviser to ISAF. Conceived and facilitated Connect to Sailingfocussed on building active partnerships between sport and industry for the development of sport management and sport delivery structures for small and emerging nations. 2010 to 2014 was appointed Champion for Community Sport by the UK Government Minister for Sport, a part time role working with Sport England for the development of community "Grass Roots" sport. Special Adviser to the Korean International Boat Show helping to start the event in 2008 as a strategy to grow leisure boat activity and now working to build the event to the lead show in the Region. Currently, voluntary CEO of Surf Life Saving GB, a UK based charity specialising in the prevention of drowning by the development of Life Guard activity with over 7,000 active members.
